Resilience Accelarator

As dev~consult is implementing an urban sector development technical advisory funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Hamid Sarfraz was invited as an expert to the Resilience Accelerator at Singapore. A highly interactive and learning event was organised by the ADB Urban Climate Change Resilience Trust Fund (UCCRTF) and attended by a large number of policy makers and practitioners of urban development and management in Pakistan. The 3-day event provided an opportunity for the participants from KP and Punjab to relook at the urban development portfolios from the climate change resilience lens. International experts, especially from Singapore, shared their experiences and discussed avenues of collaboration with the participating cities while the participants visited the successful examples of water and sanitation management, and public housing.

The USD 150 million Fund is jointly supported by the governments of UK and Switzerland, and the Rockefeller Foundation; and aims at impacting the life of around 2 million people in 25 cities of 8 countries in Asia, including Pakistan. So far, the cities of Abbottabad, Kohat, Mardan and Peshawar in KP, and Sialkot and Sahiwal in Punjab have been selected for assistance under the Fund.
