He has vast experience of managing companies and developing Independent Power Projects (IPPs). Currently, he is developing 300-400 MW power plus seawater reverse osmosis project in Oman. Previously, he worked for Wartsila for 7 years till August 2013. His last assignment was as CEO and Member of the Board for Wartsila Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd., prior to which he served as the Managing Director and Member of the Board for Wartsila Saudi Arabia. He also represented Wartsila in the board of four IPPs.
Earlier he worked with Wartsila Development and Financial Services (WDFS) providing development and financing support to IPPs including but not limited to tariff negotiation and project contracts (IA, PPA, EPC, EIA); negotiated with banks for debt and on the Shareholders Agreement. He has completed four IPPs of 760 MW with an approximate cost of US$ 900 million.
Earlier, he worked for a local group with revenues of US$ 675 million as the Chief Financial Officer for 2 years; and as Project Director with AES Corporation (with US$ 35 billion in assets) for 9 years developing IPPs in Pakistan, Turkey, Oman, Egypt, Tanzania, Nigeria and several other countries. Ghazanfar has an MBA and BSE in Business Administration from USA.
